Best Websites for Virtual Assistants
I am composing a list of websites which are good recourses for Virtual Assistants. Please comment with other relevant links and I will add them as necessary. Virtual Assistant jobs and quality websites about the are about the most difficult telecommuting jobs and resources to find. This is due, largely, to the fact that a VA can be anyone that does nearly anything from a remote location. Most VAs and aspiring VAs work as something similar to Administrative Assistants so I am trying to keep my resources confined to that description of the profession. I always had an easy time finding transcription, translation and web design resources but this one is a real chore.
What the heck is a Virtual Assistant?
If you have been following the news at all lately, you have probably been hearing the term “Virtual Assistant” being used. Basically, a Virtual Assistant is anyone who helps another person perform tasks from a remote location. It is usually similar to an Administrative Assistant but you perform the tasks from your home office, Starbucks, beach resort, etc. The main problem with Virtual Assistant positions is that they often require bizarre subsets of skills. Some require a basic knowledge of HTML or CSS and others require a knowledge of blueprint reading. They can basically require anything they want because they are pulling from a very large pool of potential applicants. They do not expect to train you on many of these skills, so your job is to adapt to them as quickly as possible. In my previous post, I linked you 25 jobs that are currently open on craigslist.
