How to get a job on Craigslist

As you know by now, Craigslist is the most popular job site, by far, on the net. It is, however, a veritable jungle of information to try to sift through. Lucky for you (and me), this guy has put together a guide to get you through that gauntlet. Here is an excerpt:

“I recently ran a help-wanted ad on Craigslist. The position was a photo-editor job for a site that I dare not mention because some people will complain that I promote it too often. Here’s what I learned a lot from this experience—much of which you may apply to a job search if you respond to a Craigslist ad:”

Macroing Your Way to Efficiency

If you have ever wondered if you could apply your incredibly knowledge of spreadsheet macro shenanigans to the broader world of windows, then there is an app for you. Webworker Daily has a great write up on just that.

“Computer use involves a lot of repetition, and I’ve found that some simple automation tools can save lots of time and hassle. In this post, I’ll discuss some of the easiest low-cost and free ways to automate workaday tasks on a Windows system.

One of my favorite ways to get the job done in Windows is a little application that you can download for free called StrokeIt. The program lets you associate mouse gestures with actions within applications. It’s like a very free-form variation on a macro recorder.”

WiFi Security in Public

Webworker Daily is running a nice piece about a subject that I have always wondered about, namely WiFi security issues when connected in public places. For those of you punching out code at your local coffee shop, this information may be very useful.

“Many users of public Wi-Fi networks run into security problems for the same reason that technology users at large do: apathy. They often just don’t want the hassle of setting up appropriate levels of security. In this post, and in a couple of upcoming ones, I’m going to describe some of the easiest and best ways to stay secure on public wireless networks.”
